WHAT IS IN AN ART APPRAISAL:
We provide an art appraisal documentation that includes
- the artwork description
- description of the provenance and
- auction records for the artist,
- a general assessment of authenticity,
- description of the quality,
- conservation condition
- fair market value and replacement value.
An art appraisal documentation includes
1/ description of the artwork itself including sizes, annotations, signature, title, and location eventually with a condition report ( essential elements of the state of conservation)
2/ biography of the artist etc.
It's a common mistake in the US that people are thinking that an art appraisal is equal to an art authentication. It could not be more wrong. An art appraisal is an opinion of the value of an item in fair market value etc.
Auction houses and some antique dealers or galleries offer free art appraisals. But be aware that they may not be so free !
In reality, they are never free, and it could cost you sometimes a lot of money here is why: etc.
